Rugged Rodeo

The Station Challenge Rodeo on Saturday May 3, 2008 has become a ‘must-see’ on the Muster calendar. This year’s event kicks-off with every kid’s favourite - Dorothy the Dinosaur Dance Show. Children of all ages will enjoy the catchy tunes and crazy dance moves of Sing With Me; Dorothy, Would You Like to Dance With Me; and many more!

From 4pm the battle between local stations to find the best rough rider in the region gets serious! If you haven’t seen a Kimberley rodeo before, don’t miss this one. Competition events include:
• The Argyle Diamonds Saddle Bronc
• The Wunan Foundation Bareback
• The Ridley’s Agri Products Bull Ride
• The Glamorgan Dozer Hire Bullock Ride
• The Country Housing Authority Station Buckjump

And just when the dust begins to settle, Country Music Channel personality and self-confessed Rodeo ’freak’, Steve Forde will take to the stage. Tickets to the Station Challenge Rodeo are $20 adults, $10 children (aged 2 and up) and are available at the gate. For more information contact Joe or Catherine Atkins on 08 9168 7364.

Dig for Diamonds

Each year, a tonne of sand is brought-in to create a make-shift diamond pit at Celebrity Tree Park. Two rare precious gems, together with a host of other treasures are secretly buried, and for a couple of hours the town swarms with prospectors!

The Argyle Diamond Dig is presented by the Muster’s major sponsors as part of their long-term commitment to the Ord Valley Muster. Argyle Diamonds are the world’s largest supplier of diamonds, producing approximately 30 million carats each year or nearly one-quarter of the world’s natural diamond production.

So if you’re handy with a plastic shovel, don’t mind getting a little dirty, and love the idea of bringing home a highly-prized Argyle Diamond – head to Celebrity Tree Park at 2pm on Sunday May 4. Tickets are $15 adults or $5 children and can be purchased at the gate.

Master Harvey

In 2008 we welcome a new Master of Ceremonies to the Airnorth Kimberley Moon Experience - country and western singer, Adam Harvey. A star of Channel 7’s hit TV show, It Takes Two, Adam won his seventh Golden Guitar award for his latest album I’m Doin’ Alright on Australia Day this year.

A former truckie and gold-miner, Adam Harvey is no stranger to the East Kimberley. Last year he performed at the Muster’s Station Challenge Rodeo to a sell-out crowd. We look forward to seeing Adam alongside fellow performers - Jimmy Barnes, the Australian Army Band Darwin, Peace Love and All That Stuff, Chrs Matthews, Bizircus, Blue Shaddy and Rode Worx at this year’s Airnorth Kimberley Moon Experience.
